Dear Especially for Pets:
On behalf of
Massachusetts Canine Response Team, Inc. (MACRT), I would like to
personally thank you for your recent donation.
As you know, MACRT is a charitable, non-profit 501©(3) volunteer
search and rescue organization dedicated to the training of search and
rescue dogs, handlers and support personnel in order to provide
professional and highly-skilled search and rescue canine teams in the
event of an emergency response event.
Search dog teams sponsored by MACRT are trained to respond to a
variety of emergency response events including wilderness searches and
urban disasters.
The training of
MACRT search dogs includes canine agility, working off leash, directional
control, exposure to unfamiliar surroundings, perfecting the dog’s alert
behavior and conducting mock search problems. Developing proficiency in all of these areas requires a great
deal of training but, as people’s lives may depend on the competence of
a canine search team, only search dogs and handlers who have passed
MACRT’s Canine Certification Testing Process are considered fully
operational by MACRT in the event of an emergency response event.
The cost of attaining the requisite operational status is absorbed by the
individual MACRT canine handler as MACRT does not charge for its services.
All MACRT search efforts are donated to the public agency
requesting MACRT’s services. While
MACRT is dedicated to providing this public service, contributions help to
off-set the huge financial burden placed on each dog handler and are
greatly appreciated.
MACRT therefore
extends a sincere thank you for your recent donation.
In doing so, you too have helped promote safety and well-being for
your fellow citizens.
With kind regards,
Cheryl Oetting
MACRT Treasurer
