June Marks ‘National Adopt a Shelter
Cat Month’
In honor of this month’s National
Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month, Methuen-based MSPCA Small Animal Shelter at
Nevins Farm and the Acton location of “Especially for Pets” are
collaborating to offer a full day of fun and cat adoption
opportunities on Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at
Especially for Pets in Acton.
The day of festivities will feature
cats and kittens of all ages available for adoption, as well as a
myriad of interesting cat facts and important information on proper
feline care. The store will showcase a storyboard, highlighting
special cats that have been adopted and their unique stories,
particularly from the Acton area.
New adoptive families will
receive a special goodie bag in honor of their new feline friend. As
always, adopted pets (and their owners) will receive a 10 percent discount
at the store on all purchases valid for one month after adoption.
In addition to adoption activities, the event will also include
face painting, a special raffle, balloons, and more. Last year, the
efforts of this off-site adoption program resulted in roughly 30 cats
finding loving adoptive homes. The organization of this event was a team
effort between staff at the MSPCA in Methuen and Amy Lord, Manager of
Especially for Pets.
“We have had an outstanding number of
adoptions over the past season,” said Lord. “On this day, we want to
thank our customers who have adopted cats from the MSPCA and hopefully
adopt out a record number of cats and kittens.”
