Acclaimed Veterinarian to Address New Englanders
on
Feeding Pets the Way Nature Intended
--
Growing ‘Trend’ is Actually the Way Pets Were Raised for Centuries --
On Saturday, March 15, Dr. Ian
Billinghurst, a veterinary surgeon and author from Australia will speak to
pet owners from the New England area at the Middlesex Community College in
Bedford, Mass. The seminar entitled ‘Feeding Your Dog or Cat a Raw
Diet’ will discuss the concept of feeding a raw diet to companion
animals.
As
pet owners increasingly take an active role in the care of their beloved
four-legged companions, many are embracing the concept of feeding their
pets the way nature intended, rather than relying on the typical
supermarket kibble to meet their dietary needs. According to William
Pollack, DVM, ‘statistics show that the average life expectancies of
companion animals have rapidly dropped in the last 40 years, [not long
after commercial kibble became available] despite improvements in the
medical model, veterinary diagnosis and treatment modalities.’
More and more
veterinarians and nutritionists are making a correlation between the
quality of a diet’s ingredients and a pet’s long-term health. Dr.
Billinghurst has been instrumental in educating tens of thousands of
people worldwide to the benefits of feeding a natural diet. In addition,
pet owners who have fed their companion animals a natural diet for years
will be at the seminar and available to the media.
Dr.
Billinghurst’s appearance is hosted by Especially for Pets, a
progressive pet products retailer, with locations in Acton, Newton,
Sudbury and Wayland.
