We’re proud to announce the expansion of our natural product line and the formation of a new Natural Division at Especially for Pets. Our continuing interest in holistic pet care and an increased public awareness is the basis of this newly formed division. Especially for Pets is committed to your pet’s well-being and to helping she or he live a long and healthy life. By expanding our natural product line and carrying a variety of raw diets as well as natural supplements and treats, you’ll have a greater selection of products to help your pet achieve and maintain optimal health.

Last fall, we added two frozen diets to our natural line — Steve’s Real Food for Cats and Dogs and Wysong’s Tundra. We are now pleased to include Barfworld’s Barf Diet, Aunt Jeni’s Home Made 4 Life, and Bravo! Pet Food.

The BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) diet was popularized by Dr. Ian Billinghurst, author and internationally recognized expert on health and evolutionary nutrition for dogs and cats. Home Made 4 Life is brought to you by qualified, degreed, experienced animal nutritionists and Bravo! Pet Food was created as a foundation food for a raw diet that allows you to add the supplements required to make your pet’s diet complete.

These three new diets focus on the following concept — the feeding of raw meat, bones, and vegetables to provide your pet with readily available nutrients and live enzymes. These three diets are pre-ground and mixed for your convenience. They offer the raw meaty bones component and the muscle meat/veggie mix component. In addition, a variety of new supplements designed to complement raw diets will also be available — such as kelp, alfalfa, salmon oil, and a complete nutrition supplement called BARFPlus. Healthy treats will also be available.

Beginning sometime in July, our Acton, Sudbury, and Wayland stores will have these items in stock and by the fall, all our stores will be fully stocked. Check our website or call the store nearest you to check availability.

Helping to move Especially for Pets into the forefront of the world of holistic pet supplies is Judy Asarkof, manager of the Natural division. Judy is a pet owner who has been researching, analyzing, and feeding raw diets and holistic products for over five years. Along with her husband, Judy lives with two dogs, two cats, seven guinea pigs, and 11 chickens. Raising her animals holistically is a way of life for Judy.
